After a hiatus due to a busy few weeks, here I am back on my bullshit, um, sorry no, I mean, back to clearing the backlog of links on my reading pile. To ease myself in gently I have picked a folder that looks like it has a lot of duds, so it should be a light one. Let’s see, shall we?
This week’s 12 links:
- Soundcloud link (now expired) to episode 43 of the No Such Thing As A Fish podcast, “no such thing as a human cigarette”. I still listen to that podcast actually, it’s by the Qi Elves (researchers for the TV programme), and they’re now on episode 600. So… that was a while ago! I have found episode 43 in my podcast player, I’m not sure why I had saved it – apparently “James, Andy, Anna and Alex discuss tiger selfies, dog-drawn prams, a cow’s best friend and a dolphin’s worst enemy.” I have added it to my favourites, to check out again.
- Digital tool: SpeakPipe – a free online voice recorder.
- Accidental Creative website – no sure why this ended up on my reading pile. Maybe it was for a previous incarnation of the website (sometimes I save sites not for the content but because the layout or design is smart, or something). “We help creative pros to be brave, focused, and brilliant. Through our training, podcasts, books, and workshops, we help teams around the world be at their best.” Oh, this is actually one guy, Todd Henry, who writes books and makes content, and apparently “positions himself as an ‘arms dealer for the creative revolution'”, WTF, ick. Nah.
- iTunes FAQ page for podcast makers (dead link). I was obviously investigating podcasting at the time. Maybe THAT was the Todd Henry / Accidental Creative link?
- Page to subscribe to the 99% Invisible podcast (dead link). I am actually subscribed in my podcast player, and I still listen to this one. It’s very good. I learn random stuff, and often I find the urban design episodes the most interesting.
- Page for a podcast called “All The Feels” (dead link). Doesn’t look like it exists any more in my podcast player either.
- Page for the podcast Strangers, on Story Central. “Each episode is an empathy shot in your arm, featuring true stories about the people we meet, the connections we make, the heartbreaks we suffer, the kindnesses we encounter, and those frightful moments when we discover that WE aren’t even who we thought we were.” I’d lost sight of this one, I’ve just added it to my podcast player.
- Podcast player app: Pocket Casts. I forgot I had this (obvs) and I use a different platform now.
- “How to self promote without being annoying” on the Heart Made Blog. Dead link, the website has gone now.
- Digital tool: Buffer (to schedule social media posts). I’ve used this in the meantime (in my org work, not for my personal freelancer stuff). It’s pretty good.
- Some kind of dashboard (dead link) – can’t tell anything about what it might have been.
- Digital tool: PicMonkey – social media focused, online photo editing and design.
My time to read: 30 minutes
No tags in today’s harvest, I have added a couple of things to my podcast player, and the rest are digital tools I don’t really need right now. To round off this post, here’s a photo of Olden, from my trip to Norway last week. Yup, I took that. On my phone camera. Photogenic landscape or what??
