Weeknotes 36 (March 2026)

At work:

  • Health and social care event: Refining the agenda and planning, sending out information to key participants, and then – curveball!! – the venue fell through so scrambling to find an alternative for a full day workshop at 10 days’ notice. Not sorted yet, will be high priority next week.
  • Health and social care engagement materials: Started formatting the outputs from a team’s engagement with local communities around their experiences of health and social care services. Completed 3, got 3 to go. Through developing the first one, I pulled together a template that I finetuned while wrangling the others, which the team should be able to use ongoing.
  • Cultural competency training: Reviewed my session planning and content with the client, did some finetuning, decided to reluctantly lose my favourite quiz ๐Ÿ™ because there is just not enough time in the session, and sent the materials to the client for circulation ahead of the delivery next week.
  • Website engagement project: Planning the last phase of engagement and checking in with the clients around closing the communications loop and ensuring robust future engagement practice.

Deliverables this week:

  • None directly, just lots of planning.

Development this week:

  • Had an email about possibly developing a workshop around “managing change” for community leaders – booked in a chat with the client next week.
  • Have been passed on a request for Expressions of Interest around supporting a team’s transformation work. Really interesting work and right up my street, though I imagine the competition will be fierce on such a cool contract. Have booked a chat with the client next week to find out some more.

A home:

  • Had a surge of spring energy and:
    • researched the hell out of blinds to replace 3 that did not do well through the winter, removed the big rooms’ horrible vertical slat blinds that mould was creeping onto, ordered a new vinyl blind for the bathroom, ordered some roller blinds for the big windows and waterproofing spray to treat them before installation, also dealt with the old blinds and rails and separated all the elements ready for recycling;
    • booked in the car for window tinting before going to Belgium with a car load of presents;
    • researched and found a tattooist I want to contact about some colouring in;
    • added clay beads at the bottom of the indoor plant pots and removed the ones that I lost over the winter, moved the surviving ones to the window sill;
    • put the biofuel burner away (it’s now covered in plants);
    • started off the tomato seeds in trays (bit late I know but better late than not!);
    • ordered a new bird feeder pole (with squirrel baffle ofc) to replace the wonky ones that have had a hard life and are leaning so far over that the water bowl can only be filled to one third.
  • Next on my list: put window decals on the outside of the big windows to prevent bird accidents, remove and put away the door curtains, remove and put away the winter rugs (get 2 professionally cleaned), get the bike serviced and MOTd and ready to use, tidy up the living room which has become a dumping ground for misc projects, and fix the sofa where one panel is pulling out – ready for visitors to stay over.
  • After my big surge in springtime energy and activity I had a huge crash and a migraine on Sunday. Will I ever learn to pace myself? LOL NO ๐Ÿ˜€
  • Family: ordered a bunch of gifts for my folks in Belgium who I’m off to see early April. Proudly sharing Welsh gins and spiced rum. Will stock up on Welsh cakes for their freezer (by request!) on the day before I leave.
  • A good week with 3 pilates sessions.
  • No swim this week, Sunday was International Women’s Day and there was going to be a big event at the beach which would be very crowded and we all decided to stay in bed instead. ๐Ÿ˜€
  • Welsh class: caught up on the recording of the one I missed last week (because of jetlagged sleep), sent in my homework, and attended this week’s class where OF COURSE I talked about Singapore and about the magnificent food (including pandan chiffon cake which made everyone go Ooooooo).
  • Had a few catch-up chats with friends and talked about my experiences of Singapore and the family history stuff I found out about. My thoughts are slowly percolating through talking them out loud. Will blog at some point when ready!
  • Been looking at ads of cats that need rehoming in my area. ๐Ÿ™ Came to the conclusion that I would like a new boy in my life, or girl maybe, but I basically want another Tom, with the closeness that came from years together, and that’s not something that happens instantly. Going to leave it for a while – maybe a year? – to get over Tom properly and reset my expectations. Focus on other things in the meantime. (Like getting my tattoos coloured in, as a cat displacement activity.)
