Weeknotes 8

At work:

  • Drafted the plan for the day-long EDI strategy workshop – will include a PESTLIED and then 3 Horizons. Had a review meeting with the client. They’re happy with my proposed structure, and I’m going to write some briefing notes for the speakers.
  • Still working through the evaluation session recordings! Mapping the information about the entire programme on several sheets of flipchart. Building up a picture which I will need to make sense of to start writing up the report soon.
  • Got the first session booked for the social care engagement project, off to Swansea next week! I prepped my notes and materials ready.
  • Mentoring with senior health board leaders ongoing.

Deliverables this week:

  • Interim deliverable: presented the proposed EDI strategy day plan for client review.

Development this week:

  • The potential 2-hour EDI workshop that was coming my way is with a whole team (70 people) rather than just the senior leadership team – which changes everything! I have done some research and have pulled together a draft content and structure to put to the team for approval next week.
  • My New Idea is shaping up. I ran it past my friend and colleague, hoping she would agree to become co-conspirator, and she did, yay! We don’t have a specific timeline to launch but we’ll be doing some work behind the scenes when we’re able. However, I have bought the domain name and hosting, so it’s defo happening.
  • There’s a Request For Quote that’s come my way and which I have started thinking about. It’s to facilitate a day-long strategy session. (I’m wondering if me facilitating mainly strategy sessions has become A Thing.)

At home:

  • Welsh revision session number 2, covering the second half of the Mynediad 1 (very first year) curriculum. Am going to take my index cards with me on the cruise (see below) and annoy my friend with practice sentences. I might have to break my Duolingo streak (302 days currently!!) as I won’t have wi-fi on the ship (because it was way, way too expensive.) I will make sure my practice sentences mention dragons and parsnips loads, to make up for it.
  • Working on converting my bathroom into a popup darkroom so I can develop film and print B&W photos. Been meaning to get back into it since lockdown, but it’s taken me a while to get organised. The recent workshops at the Braeval Street community darkroom have given me a boost! This is happening! This week-end I blocked out the window and door and then sat in the dark for a long while to allow my eyes to adjust and to see if there were any light leaks. (There were, and I fixed them.) Next weekend I’ll set up the workbench and I’ll be good to go.
  • Preparing to go to Norway with my bestie in a fortnight, for what I am fondly thinking of as “our old lady cruise”. First week in September, as late as possible in the year because more affordable, but before Welsh lessons resume so I don’t miss any. Have always wanted to see the Norwegian fjords. First time on a cruise, so it’s all rather exciting.

A transparent plastic folder contains a ballpen, a marker and a pair of scissors, as well as film negatives, some contact sheet test strips, and some prints of a landscape and you can see part of a portrait too.
