Weeknotes 39 (March 2026)

The last full week of the financial year. Lots of training is always traditional in March, as people use up their training budgets and book a flurry of sessions then. Projects also get tied up and closed with final reports and invoicing needed before the books close.

At work:

  • Health and social care engagement materials: produced the final output, which was the biggest and most complex one to sort out. Now have some handover / process support / relationships support meetings to do with the team to tie this up neatly.
  • Co-production resources: turning my attention to 3 outstanding case studies that I didn’t have time to complete before the launch of the online resource. In the process of drafting the content, for verification by the interviewees.
  • Board strategic session (in April): in development, regular touchpoints with the team to finetune the session design and arrangements.

Deliverables this week:

  • Unconscious bias in recruitment: half day training delivered to a housing association. A tough session with a fair bit of push back from the participants.
  • Cultural competence training: the last of 3 online sessions I ran this month for a Welsh local authority. Went well again, lovely feedback.
  • Introduction to co-production training, part 2: a follow-up session on part 1 which I delivered a few weeks ago. This one was more of an advisory and mentoring session, focusing on putting the models into practice on people’s own projects.
  • Catchment partnership project: first stakeholder meeting prepared and facilitated, with good outcomes, and the notes circulated. Working on follow-up actions.
  • Website engagement project: produced the final project report.
  • Health and social care event: produced the final event report once I’d received participants’ notes.

Development this week:

  • Scoping meeting for a cultural competence training session to be delivered in person in June. Just doing advance prep and sorting arrangements.

At home:

  • Non-exec role: ongoing meetings to support the team.
  • Drove to Rhyl, Abergele and Colwyn Bay – and back – to deliver a training session in person (plus an overnight stay and an online meeting), and have come back absolutely shattered. I always look forward to a road trip to north Wales and then once I’ve done it I think I should have caught the train – but I needed the car for flexibility this time. For the Bangor trip next month I’ve got a train booked.
  • Two pilates this week (not 3) because of delivering training on Wednesday.
  • No swimming this week, the high tides were at awkward times and the weather on Sunday was horrible, a day not to stir out of the house.
  • No Welsh this week, shattered and working on tying up reports for financial year end. It’s Easter break coming up (2 weeks of no lessons) and the week we’re meant to return I’m away for work. Sigh. I’m really not having a good run of this. I will try and do some revision during Easter break.
  • Been getting advice and talking to the other driver about the car stuff. It’s ongoing.
  • It’s been a tiring and intense week, compounded by a bad period and hormones really affecting me this time. Feeling a bit discombobulated and untethered. Trying to remain steady, trusting that everything is unfolding as it should, that all is well, and that this shall pass into stiller, calmer waters.
